I
THE CITY OF BORROWED LIGHT
To seek what appears to be true.

She went looking for the sun.
The city had taught her that light meant truth, so she followed whatever shone. Through narrow streets and silent buildings, she moved toward a brightness that seemed to promise an answer.
But some things are visible only because something else has chosen to illuminate them.
And some lights do not reveal the world.
They teach us how easily we can mistake appearance for truth.
She kept walking.
She did not yet know that what she was searching for was not the light itself—
but the difference between
what shines
and what is true.
